Spring has sprung, and so has our desire to throw candy at children and call it a bonding experience.
Enter the first-ever AMAZING Easter Egg Hunt, hosted by yours truly, Macaroni KID Harrisburg & West Shore and AMAZING Activirites! This event is shaping up to be a chaotic masterpiece of jellybeans, giggles, and tiny humans in bunny ears—and we couldn’t be more excited.
π Event Details You Need to Know
Date: Thursday, April 17
Time: 1:00 PM–3:00 PM (Egg hunt starts at 1:30 SHARP!)
Location: Amazing Activity Center, 6003 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg
This is no ordinary egg hunt. This is an egg-stravaganza of epic proportions—with glittering eggs, bouncing kids, and enough activities to keep your little bunnies hopping all afternoon. And yes, we’re calling it AMAZING because that’s literally the name of the venue and the vibe we’re manifesting.
β¨ What’s New (a.k.a. “Look What Grew While I Wasn’t Looking”)
Originally, this was going to be a simple egg hunt. A few eggs. Some bunny photos. Maybe a prize or two.
And then? Y’all registered in droves.
What was once a chill little spring gathering is now a full-blown pastel-colored party with well over 100 families expected (!!!). So, we leveled up. BIG TIME.
Here’s what’s been added to spread out the fun, reduce wait times, and basically keep us all from spiraling:
π Balloon Twisting
π¨ Face Painting
π° Easter Bunny Meet & Greet
π Surprise Activities popping up like confetti from a shaken egg
π J&D’s Food Truck and π¦ Alsie’s Ice Cream Cart will be on site because hunting eggs is hard work—and you’ll need fuel. Bring a few bucks and treat yo’self (no judgment if your lunch is a chocolate bunny and a milkshake).
π Calm Down Zone hosted by Neurodiverse Network for anyone who needs a break from the beautiful chaos. Sensory-friendly support? YES PLEASE.
ποΈ About Those Bags (Let’s Talk Logistics and Lowered Expectations)
Originally, we told pre-registered families they’d receive a special drawstring “Bagsket” (bag + basket = Bagsket, you’re welcome).
BUT THEN CAME THE FLOOD.
With over 100 families and the logistical nightmare of trying to check off names mid-chaos, we had to pivot.
Updated plan:
βοΈ There WILL be lots of bags (thanks to our awesome sponsors!)
βοΈ They’ll be available first come, first served before and after the hunt
βοΈ We highly recommend bringing your own egg-collecting vessel—bonus points for creativity
Suggested alternatives include:
- A basket
- A pillowcase
- Your toddler’s dump truck
- A Halloween cauldron
- That enormous mom purse you pretend isn’t a diaper bag
- A spaghetti strainer (hey, if it works, it works)
π₯ The Egg Hunt Itself
We’ll be “releasing the children” at 1:30 PM SHARP.
Yes, “releasing” like a scene from a National Geographic documentary—small feet pounding the earth, eyes scanning for glittery treasures, and the occasional parent shouting “GO LEFT!” like it’s the Super Bowl.
To keep things fun and fair:
β
Preschool Hunt (Ages 3–5): Gentle, joyful, and low-to-the-ground
β
School-Age Hunt (Ages 6–12): Bring your A-game, these kids mean business
β
Egg-ceptional Hunt (Kids with Extra Needs): Brighter eggs, surface placement, and optional buddy helpers
πΆ Babies Under 3: Not candy-safe, but they can still join in with empty eggs, the soft play zone, and snuggles with the Bunny
π° AFTER THE HUNT: It’s a Drop-In Party!
Our original 2–3 PM gym party has evolved into a drop-in open house style bash!
Families can explore the Amazing Activity Center (truly one of Harrisburg’s best-kept secrets), complete with:
π§ Rock climbing wall
β½ Open gym play
π Space to let the sugar-fueled chaos unfold naturally
Come and go at your leisure. Bounce out that sugar rush. Live your best springtime life.
